About the position

As a Gateway VSM Spacecraft Software Test Engineer at Jacobs, you will play a crucial role in supporting NASA's deep space exploration initiatives. This position requires a deep understanding of the Gateway Vehicle System Manager (VSM) Software Requirements Specification, which will be essential for your success in this role. You will develop an intimate knowledge of the system design and collaborate closely with the software development team to ensure that all software testing and verification activities are meticulously planned and executed. Responsibilities

  • Understand Gateway Vehicle System Manager (VSM) Software Requirements Specification
  • Develop an intimate knowledge of the system design
  • Collaborate with the software development team
  • Plan software testing and verification activities
  • Design and implement automated test procedures
  • Work in an Agile, fast-paced environment
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area or experience in the field
  • Experience with software testing and verification
  • Proficiency with C/C coding in a Linux environment
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience with agile software development
  • Experience with web-based collaboration tools
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, git, slack, SharePoint
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude
  • Self-starter who can understand and absorb new concepts quickly
  • Must be local to the JSC area and willing to work offsite at Jacobs building and onsite at Johnson Space Center on a regular basis

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop and test safety-critical software
  • Experience with highly autonomous systems
  • Experience developing software across the full development life cycle
  • Knowledge of the NASA Gateway Spacecraft systems and software
  • Experience with NPR 7150.2 and other NASA software and systems development standards
