About the position

The Sales Engineer position at GCC is an entry-level role designed for candidates eager to build a successful sales career within a 100% employee-owned company. The role begins with inside sales responsibilities, focusing on learning about customers, products, and essential sales skills, with the goal of transitioning to an outside sales role within 1-2 years. The position includes hands-on training through rotational duties in repair and production, as well as shadowing management and outside sales teams. The Sales Engineer will also be expected to achieve Fluid Power Certification from IFPS, demonstrating competency in products and sales skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting current outside sales employees with customer support to large OEM accounts, including order expediting and providing quotes.
  • Answering incoming calls for sales, service, product availability, and managing orders in the ERP system.
  • Finding new business leads from incoming requests for quotes and phone calls.
  • Cross selling and upselling products and value-added services as applicable.
  • Supporting and participating in the organization's continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Completing rotations in production and repair departments to assist with product modifications and building subassemblies.
  • Attending sales training and studying fluid power basics to achieve Fluid Power Specialist certification.
  • Shadowing outside sales and assisting with in-person customer visits.

Requirements

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Industrial Distribution, Engineering or other applicable field of study.
  • Entry level position - considering recent college graduates.
  • Experience with technical concepts (fluid power experience preferable).
  • Customer service work experience.
