About the position

BlueWater Federal is seeking a skilled GCCS Engineer to play a pivotal role in the configuration and implementation of the SEWS GCCS-J software and systems. This position involves not only the technical aspects of GCCS-J courseware development but also providing specialized training to both US and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) personnel. The engineer will be responsible for delivering system support to various locations, including Colorado Springs, NATO, and other supported FMS sites. The role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with SEWS contractors and government personnel to ensure that operational needs are met effectively. In this position, the GCCS Engineer will assist in the design and analysis of user needs, making hardware and software recommendations that align with operational requirements. A significant part of the role involves providing system support for remote users, identifying and resolving hardware, software, and communication issues. The engineer will document solutions and develop recommendations aimed at reducing the frequency of repairs. Additionally, the engineer will respond to system outages, ensuring that issues are resolved in accordance with contract requirements, and will provide maintenance support for system and equipment issues. The role also includes supporting Emergency On-Site Sustainment (EOSS) travel to customer locations as required, which emphasizes the need for flexibility and readiness to travel. This position is critical in ensuring that the GCCS-J systems operate smoothly and that personnel are adequately trained to utilize these systems effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with SEWS contractor and government personnel to plan OM&S trips and stay apprised of Theater issues
  • Assist with the design and analysis of user needs and associated hardware and software recommendations
  • Perform system support for remote users to identify and resolve hardware, software, and communication issues, document solutions, and develop recommendations to reduce the frequency of repairs
  • Respond to system outages to ensure issues are resolved per contract requirements
  • Provide maintenance support for system / equipment issues
  • Support Emergency On-Site Sustainment (EOSS) travel to customer locations as required

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in systems administration, Tactical Combat Operations, and GCCS
  • Must have an active TS/SCI clearance
  • Knowledge of virtualization concepts and products (VMware); Microsoft Active Directory (AD) for user and groups
  • Familiarity with Oracle/Sybase/Postgres database maintenance; Java application servers (Tomcat, JBoss)
  • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX applications and services (NFS, SSH, NTP, LDAP, HTTP, Ansible)
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)
  • Partner and Allied nation exercise experience
  • Local and foreign travel, four or more trips per year (50% travel) is required.
