About the position

The GCP Cloud Engineer at Divurgent is responsible for creating a cloud platform technology framework and providing technical design and leadership in cloud computing and automation initiatives. This role involves ensuring the reliability and high availability of critical cloud applications, while also mentoring junior team members and serving as a technical liaison across departments. The position is hybrid, requiring 25% onsite work and 75% remote work, and is a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance for the design, implementation, and support of new cloud platform architecture and automation technologies.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for cloud, automation, and end-to-end architecture for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
  • Develop and promote cloud-native application architectures and application development practices.
  • Maintain industry knowledge on trends and technology to support organizational goals.
  • Define the cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective.
  • Design, configure, implement, and support a fully automated workflow for a complex cloud environment using infrastructure as code.
  • Develop and maintain a library of deployable automation design scripts and procedures.
  • Enable DevOps development activities using tools like GitHub, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.
  • Participate in cloud environment build-outs, software installation, and maintenance.
  • Lead the development of technology roadmaps and end-of-life technology plans.
  • Implement production changes during maintenance windows and support on-call rotation.
  • Review product work from team members and provide technical feedback.
  • Provide technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues.
  • Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, and production deployment for cloud platform projects.
  • Create and maintain documentation of architecture solutions and relevant systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant areas of study.
  • Minimum of 8+ years' experience in IT systems installation, operations, design, and architecture of virtualized servers/cloud systems.
  • Strong consultative, communication, and analytical skills for interaction across teams.
  • Good technical leadership skills and experience with highly available systems.
  • Deep technical knowledge of complex IT environments and cloud services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business and technology leaders.
  • Hands-on experience with agile, DevOps, and continuous integration/delivery.
  • Experience with Terraform, GitHub, and configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
  • Experience in architecting and maintaining highly available mission-critical environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a healthcare or highly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis, and client/server systems.
  • 12+ years' experience in IT systems installation and architecture.
  • In-depth knowledge of container and microservices technologies, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Kafka.
  • Passionate about new technologies and architecture.
