As a GCP Cloud Engineer at Ford Motor Company, you will be a key member of our Enterprise Technology Group, playing a critical role in shaping the future of mobility. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage advanced technology to redefine the transportation landscape, enhance customer experiences, and improve lives. You will be responsible for managing and simplifying Ford's complex global infrastructure environment, which spans Google Cloud Platform (GCP), on-premises data centers, and distributed locations across major regions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing key cloud-native infrastructure, computing, database, network, storage, and interoperability initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with Technology and Software Platform teams to provide comprehensive solutions for cloud infrastructure across the Ford Enterprise. This includes hosting, computing, databases, and networks. You will define, analyze, assemble, and integrate components to deliver infrastructure patterns that meet business needs, ensuring considerations for platforms, software, availability, scalability, and reliability are met. Your expertise will be crucial in designing, building, and maintaining GCP infrastructure to support our applications and services, while also integrating GCP services into our overall IT architecture. Staying current with GCP technologies and best practices will be essential, as you will provide recommendations for continuous improvement. You will also develop, advise, and document GCP infrastructure and deployment processes, utilizing your experience with REST API, Agile tools, DevOps, and version control tools like Git and JIRA. Your role will involve designing and developing high-performance, scalable, and secure cloud-native applications on GCP, working closely with development teams to implement best practices for deploying and managing applications. Additionally, you will monitor and optimize the performance of GCP resources, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and support the development of technical design and documentation, ensuring open communication channels with relevant stakeholders.
