About the position

As a GCP Cloud Engineer at Ford, you will play a critical role in enhancing and simplifying the company's complex global infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and on-premises data centers. This position involves designing, building, and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure to support applications and services, while collaborating with various teams to integrate GCP services into the overall IT architecture. You will also be responsible for monitoring and optimizing GCP resources, troubleshooting issues, and documenting processes to ensure best practices are followed.

Responsibilities

• Work with Technology and Software Platform teams to provide solutions for cloud infrastructure across the Ford Enterprise.
• Define, analyze, assemble, and integrate components to deliver infrastructure patterns for the business.
• Design, build, and maintain GCP infrastructure to support applications and services.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate GCP services into the overall IT architecture.
• Stay current with GCP technologies and best practices, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Develop, advise, and document GCP infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Design and develop high performance, scalable, and secure cloud-native applications on GCP.
• Work with development teams to implement best practices for deploying and managing applications on GCP.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of GCP resources and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Support the development of technical design and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in IT or Technology-related disciplines with progressively increasing responsibility.
• 5+ years of experience working with cloud-native GCP and hybrid cloud environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• 2+ years of experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Deployment Manager.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of GCP services, including Containers, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
• Good understanding of public cloud services offerings.
• Experience in building big data solutions and ensuring security and compliance of GCP environment.
• Experience working on Serverless design and implementing Container As A Service (CaaS).
• Experience in building CI/CD pipelines using CI/CD methodologies.
• Ability to ideate cloud-based solution accelerators and frameworks for migrating enterprise data warehouse to the Cloud.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation tools with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
