About the position

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a highly motivated GCP Cloud Security Engineer to join our talented team in Fairfax, VA. This position is crucial for maintaining the security and integrity of our cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud security support, particularly within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the security and performance of our cloud environments. The role involves extensive documentation, including system maintenance technical documentation and standard operating procedures for the environment. The engineer will also be responsible for the discovery of new network components and resources, ensuring that all configurations are accurately documented in the configuration management database. In addition to documentation, the GCP Cloud Security Engineer will provide status updates and reporting on security compliance, as well as periodic updates on service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs). A significant part of the role will involve root cause analysis (RCA) to identify patterns in repeat incidents and implement permanent fixes. This includes updating automation scripts based on the findings from RCA. The engineer will also support application development by modifying, debugging, and maintaining software code according to functional, non-functional, and technical design specifications. Responsibilities will include managing production deployments, configuration management, and ensuring the availability and performance of applications through regular upgrades and patching. Monitoring and alerting are key components of this role, requiring the engineer to analyze and define alert thresholds and logging practices to prevent incidents. Periodic maintenance activities will also be part of the job, ensuring that systems remain secure and efficient.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Cloud Security Support experience
  • 2+ years of working with payment systems
  • Experience supporting Cloud/SaaS software products and APIs
  • Familiarity with XaaS technologies, platforms, and applications
  • Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC
  • Ability to analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Ability to design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
  • Experience with debugging existing software and correcting defects
  • Familiarity with working in an Agile software development environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Dedicated to champion customer problems until resolution
