About the position

The GCP Data Architect role is focused on designing and implementing data solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. This position requires extensive experience in data engineering and architecture, particularly in developing ETL/ELT processes and ensuring data quality. The architect will collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables while overseeing the technical aspects of data integration and modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ETL/ELT processes to ingest data into BigQuery.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity during data integration.
  • Utilize Google Cloud services, particularly BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, and PubSub.
  • Optimize complex SQL queries in BigQuery.
  • Apply data modeling techniques and best practices for data warehousing.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes and adherence to coding standards.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and review technical documents.
  • Shape overall project strategy and define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with development teams and on-site engineers to address technical requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a GCP environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Cloud services, especially BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, and PubSub.
  • Proficient in SQL with experience in optimizing complex queries in BigQuery.
  • Experience in data modeling techniques and best practices for data warehousing.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in solutioning IRIS Integrations.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data governance and compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools in GCP.
