About the position

The GCP Data Architect role is a contract position focused on data engineering and architecture within a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. The architect will be responsible for developing and implementing ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data quality, and optimizing data integration strategies. This position requires strong technical expertise in GCP services, particularly BigQuery, and involves collaboration with stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ETL/ELT processes to ingest data from various sources into BigQuery, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Oversee quality assurance processes, ensuring adherence to coding standards and implementation of best practices.
• Participate in technical design discussions and review technical documents.
• Shape the overall project strategy, working closely with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
• Work closely with the development team and on-site engineers to understand technical requirements and resolve technical issues.
• Identify and flag potential risks and issues that may impact project timelines or quality, and develop mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, with at least 2 years in a GCP environment.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud services, especially BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, and PubSub.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with optimizing complex queries in BigQuery.
• Experience in data modeling techniques and best practices for data warehousing.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in solutioning IRIS Integrations.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data manipulation and automation.
