The company is currently seeking a GCP Data Engineer to join its team, focusing on cloud and Big Data projects within the Data Warehousing and Data Analytics domains. This role is crucial for developing data-driven solutions that meet evolving business needs and delivering scalable, high-performing data solutions for clients in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and India. As a GCP Data Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical design and developing ETL/ELT applications that interface with Onix's customer applications. You will collaborate with larger development teams and lead the development of Test Strategy, Test Plans, and Test Cases to ensure the quality of cloud-based solutions. Your work will involve extensive analysis to understand and meet technical specifications and business requirements, as well as addressing issues identified during the testing phase by proposing effective solutions. Additionally, you will work throughout the cloud ecosystem to migrate data from on-premises Big Data platforms to cloud-based platforms like BigQuery and SQL. This position requires a strong background in data engineering, particularly with cloud technologies, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. You will need to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and project leaders to understand requirements and deliverables, ensuring that expectations are set and met throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Drive analysis to understand and meet all technical specifications and business requirements, according to the established designs
  • Work extensively to develop Test Strategy, Test Plans and Test Cases to test cloud-based solutions
  • Analyze issues identified during the testing phase while proposing new solutions to solve these issues
  • Provide senior-level technical consulting support with peers and other data engineers during the design, development and testing stages for highly-complex and critical data projects
  • Work extensively throughout the cloud ecosystem to migrate data from Teradata, Netezza, and similar on-prem Big Data platforms to cloud-based platforms like BigQuery and SQL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Approximately 8+ years of experience with proven experience with data platforms and Big Data engineering functions
  • Hands-on experience with SQL is highly preferred as is quickly learning skills to adapt to GCP's cloud native SQL (i.e. BigQuery)
  • Hands-on experience with Python is highly preferred with Jupyter Notebooks experience also serving as a plus
  • Hands-on and deep experience working with Google Data Products (i.e. BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Storage, etc.)
  • Willingness to continuously learn and share learnings with others
  • Capability to collaborate with stakeholders and project leaders to understand requirements, deliverables and set expectations on tasks in which you will be responsible
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment
  • Ability to work with business stakeholders and IT Teams to understand the requirements and quickly translate them into workable solutions using Python, SQL, GCP, BigQuery, etc.
  • Experience working in an Agile and collaborative team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and professional speaking skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills with an attention to detail and a commitment to excellence and high standards.
