About the position

The GCP Data Engineer position is focused on architecting and managing cloud infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role requires a deep understanding of GCP database technologies and hands-on experience with various cloud services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud management platforms, virtualization strategies, and automation and orchestration strategies. They will be responsible for optimizing cloud capacity and performance, as well as managing application migrations to the cloud. In this role, the Data Engineer will leverage their expertise in cloud best practices to reduce operational costs while ensuring high service level objectives (SLOs), such as five nines availability. The position also involves working with cloud container services like Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), storage services, and database services such as Spanner and BigQuery. The candidate will be expected to manage projects related to highly virtualized solutions, digital convergence, outsourcing, systems integrations, network engineering, and security. Additionally, the Data Engineer will need to have a deep understanding of GCP vertex search and other AI/client services, enabling them to identify and solve AI/client use cases across the enterprise. The role also includes defining cloud adoption strategies and transformation roadmaps for large-scale enterprise clients, ensuring that the organization capitalizes on technology to enable business growth.

Responsibilities

• Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Optimize cloud capacity and performance for applications.
• Manage application migrations to the cloud.
• Implement cloud best practices to reduce operational costs.
• Ensure high service level objectives (SLOs) across cloud services.
• Work with cloud container services such as GKE and storage services.
• Manage projects related to highly virtualized solutions and digital convergence.
• Identify and solve AI/client use cases across the enterprise.
• Define cloud adoption strategies and transformation roadmaps for clients.

Requirements

• 4+ years' experience architecting with GCP Database Technologies.
• 2+ years' hands-on experience on GCP.
• Certification such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Google Professional Data Engineer is preferred.
• Deep knowledge of cloud best practices to reduce operational costs.
• Working knowledge of cloud container services, storage services, and database services.
• Experience with microservices patterns and hands-on experience with microservices.
• Ability to design, architect, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud management platforms and virtualization strategies.
• Knowledge of automation and orchestration strategies.
• Understanding of network engineering and security in cloud environments.
