The GDS Technical Services Product Manager is a pivotal role within ICANN, responsible for transforming business visions into successful technical solutions. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in software development and product management. The individual will be tasked with developing, launching, and supporting new solutions, which includes the elicitation and analysis of requirements, defining specifications, and establishing business processes. The role necessitates coordination among cross-functional teams, end users, and vendors to ensure a comprehensive understanding and implementation of business process workflows and data requirements. In this role, the Product Manager will manage software development projects, particularly focusing on custom-developed solutions. Interaction with internal teams, contractors, and volunteers from the Internet community is essential for the successful development of these solutions. The Product Manager will work closely with non-technical business owners to define product features and manage the product roadmap effectively. This includes gathering and documenting complex business requirements, creating detailed functional and data specifications, and identifying opportunities for process refinement and automation. The position also involves supervising products from the early analysis phase through implementation, launch, and ongoing operations. The Product Manager will lead steering committees and coordinate cross-functional project teams, ensuring alignment with the product vision. They will facilitate functional business design sessions, propose design alternatives, and articulate the associated benefits and risks. Additionally, the role requires the development and implementation of processes to streamline operational activities, as well as the creation of process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to clarify requirements for stakeholders. The Product Manager will translate business requirements into user stories, manage the product backlog, and define test scenarios to facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT). They will also be responsible for writing detailed documentation, reporting test results, and ensuring that the delivered requirements meet customer and end-user needs. Participation in regional and international Internet technical forums and community meetings may also be required, along with other duties as assigned.
