About the position

Help invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely as a GE Aerospace intern/co-op! In this role, you will build leadership and technical skills in a supply chain/manufacturing environment, tackling challenging, real-world problems and addressing what the world needs. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with fellow interns/co-ops and leaders, preparing for a potential full-time position after graduation in one of our fantastic leadership programs or a direct hire opportunity. This internship will provide you with broad exposure to manufacturing, allowing you to apply Lean and Six Sigma principles in a shop operations environment and improve state-of-the-art manufacturing methods. As an intern, you will engage in various experiences, including conventional and non-conventional machining, welding and joining, CNC programming, repair and overhaul, and lean manufacturing. Your placement will take into account your preferences, major, year of schooling, and business needs at the time of placement. You will be placed in one of the following roles based on business need and your college major: Manufacturing Engineering or Supply Chain Operations. In the Manufacturing Engineering role, you will build a strong technical foundation in manufacturing and assembly processes, focusing on key manufacturing, new product integration, new technology integration, continuous improvement, and cost reduction. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in our Manufacturing Engineering Development Program (MEDP) or Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) after graduation. In the Supply Chain Operations role, you will be responsible for key elements involved in daily operations within Supply Chain, including materials management (forecasting, planning, fulfillment, logistics, and distribution) and sourcing (strategic commodity management, contract structuring, negotiation, supplier management) within your assigned site. This role is ideal for those interested in our OMLP program after graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Build leadership and technical skills in a supply chain/manufacturing role.

  • Engage in experiences such as machining, welding, CNC programming, and lean manufacturing.
  • Participate in key manufacturing processes and new product integration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage materials and logistics within Supply Chain operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale.
  • Attending a full-time registered and nationally accredited bachelor or graduate program.
  • Willingness and ability to work in any of the 35+ GE Aerospace U.S. locations.
  • Reliable transportation, as many sites do not have public transportation available.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship, co-op, or military experience in manufacturing/supply chain or engineering.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community and/or university involvement.
