About the position

Global Education Academy (GEA) is seeking a dedicated and passionate RSP Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This position is crucial in providing specialized support to students with special needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate educational services to thrive academically. The ideal candidate will possess a Special Education Credential and demonstrate a strong commitment to closing the achievement gap in an inner-city school environment. At GEA, we pride ourselves on our small class sizes and robust intervention programs, which have proven effective in helping our students outperform their peers in similar neighborhoods. As an RSP Teacher, you will be responsible for developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student. This includes conducting academic assessments using tools such as KTEA and Woodcock Johnson, writing appropriate goals, and preparing for and conducting IEP meetings. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with principals, teachers, parents, special education teams, and students to ensure a comprehensive approach to special education services. In addition to IEP development, the RSP Teacher will be expected to have a thorough understanding of LAUSD Special Education procedures and policies. Familiarity with online tracking systems like Welligent is essential for monitoring and recording student data effectively. Knowledge of Special Education law and legal mandates is also critical to ensure compliance and best practices in service delivery. The successful candidate will be a team player, capable of organizing and presenting documentation for site reviews and audits of the school's special education program. You will also be responsible for organizing intervention programs and services for students in Tiers I, II, and III, ensuring that all students with academic difficulties receive the support they need to succeed. Creativity and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential traits for this role, as is a genuine concern for student learning and a belief in the school's responsibility for educational outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
