About the position

The General Accountant II is responsible for preparing monthly financial statements for both domestic and international operations, supporting the management and control of the company's financial assets. This role involves specific reconciliations, analyses, and budget preparations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements for domestic and international companies.
  • Manage the closing process, including organizing monthly closing folders and maintaining journal entry control sheets.
  • Accumulate and review journal entries from accounting staff and verify account balances.
  • Run integrity reports to ensure financial statements are balanced and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain currency tables for revaluation and restatement of financials, particularly for Mexico.
  • Prepare monthly North American consolidation in USD.
  • Review and post journal entries interfacing from legacy systems to the financial system.
  • Compile and prepare analyses necessary for month-end accounting entries.
  • Reconcile and analyze various general ledger accounts for the domestic company.
  • Prepare specific budgets and government census reporting.
  • Provide detailed information to support outside auditors and assist in internal audits.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficient accounting skills with knowledge of US GAAP and MX GAAP.
  • Experience with automated financial systems, preferably JD Edwards.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Experience with Cognos reporting software.
