About the position

The General Accountant position at Spherion involves directing and coordinating general accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards. This role supports the Operations plan and business goals while providing a hybrid work environment after an initial orientation period.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly journal entries, including bank and general ledger reconciliations, resolving issues on a timely manner.
  • Daily/Monthly processing and reconciliation of cash receipts and disbursements to various bank accounts and resolve differences.
  • Prepare various daily financial related reports.
  • Gatekeeper of the Supplier Database.
  • Process weekly Accounts Payable checks, wires, and ACH payments.
  • Accountable for fixed assets; record the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, track existing fixed assets, record depreciation, account for the disposition of fixed assets, and perform annual physical inventory of fixed assets.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts from the subsidiary ledgers to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Assists in all financial audits.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
  • Assists in upper-level projects as needed.
  • Plans and performs special financial projects/assignments for the Accounting Manager as needed.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting preferred, but not required
  • Three or more years experience in Accounting and Financial functions, preferably in Manufacturing
  • Must have advanced Excel skills
  • Must have experience with banking processes
  • Must have experience with journal entries
  • Advanced knowledge of basic computer and office equipment, including the Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrated experience utilizing and navigating an ERP system.
  • Must be a US Citizen
