About the position

The General Accountant position at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa involves managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial documentation, and maintaining compliance with company policies. The role requires organizing and analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and handling cash management tasks. The accountant will also be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with team members and supporting the overall financial operations of the resort.

Responsibilities

  • Verify figures, entries, and documents for accuracy.
  • Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash, and cash equivalents according to policies and procedures.
  • Record, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information.
  • Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial information to maintain financial records using journals, ledgers, and/or computers.
  • Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, auditing, or payroll reports.
  • Complete closing procedures and reports at the end of the period as specified.
  • Prepare, examine, reconcile, and issue accounts, invoices, and statements according to company procedures.
  • Follow up and resolve overdue accounts and vendor invoices until full payment is received or resolved.
  • Prepare daily consolidated deposits of cash received by all cash-handling employees.
  • Document, maintain, communicate, and act on any cash discrepancies.
  • Prepare, maintain, and manage all cash drawers and contracts.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets; protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
  • Communicate with others using clear and professional language, prepare and review written documents accurately and completely, and answer phones using appropriate protocol.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 10 pounds or less without assistance.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
  • At least 1 year of related work experience.
