About the position

The General Accounting Associate at Metra is responsible for performing entry-level professional accounting tasks, including analyzing accounts and transactions, coding and reconciling accounting data, and preparing financial statements and reports. This role supports the Financial Affairs department in ensuring accurate financial information is available for efficient business operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze accounts, transactions, and documents.
• Code, reconcile, and adjust accounting data.
• Compile, consolidate, and analyze fiscal information.
• Prepare financial statements and reports.
• Review and analyze documents for proper authorization and compliance.
• Prepare requisitions and code financial transactions.
• Post journal entries and complete profit and loss statements.
• Monitor account balances for cash flow availability.
• Research and respond to routine accounting inquiries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
• Good knowledge of mathematical principles and applications.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems.
• Good analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a detail-oriented fast-paced environment.
• Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment with sensitive information.
• Ability to interact with individuals of all levels.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automated financial reporting system preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics systems preferred.
