About the position

The General Accounting Manager at EnerSys is responsible for overseeing the General Accounting Department for the company's US entities. This role ensures compliance with US GAAP and collaborates with various functional areas to maintain and enforce accounting policies. The manager leads a team in executing all accounting functions, including the monthly close process, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day General Accounting function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate standards.
  • Lead the General Accounting Team in accordance with the Company and team goals, providing professional development for staff.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing procedures in HFM, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared accurately and timely, following U.S. GAAP.
  • Support timely account reconciliations to back underlying accounting records.
  • Conduct financial analysis, interpreting data and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Report and analyze results, comparing actual results versus forecasts/budgets.
  • Communicate and coordinate with staff, plant accountants, segment leads, and third-party service providers for necessary information.
  • Implement process improvements and identify areas of inefficiencies.
  • Identify control weaknesses and suggest process improvements for effective financial accounting and reporting controls.
  • Ensure SOX compliance by maintaining adequate process documentation.
  • Create detailed process documentation to clarify accounting implications of processes.
  • Coordinate and take responsibility for the annual audit of the company, interfacing with internal and external auditors.
  • Lead or support team and/or Company-level special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in an accounting role
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Public Accounting and SOX experience required
