About the position

Shawnee Health, a leading Federally Qualified Health Center in scenic southern Illinois, is seeking a dentist to join our compassionate team. Our locations in Carbondale and Marion offer a vibrant community setting, home to Southern Illinois University, the Shawnee National Forest, and the renowned Southern Illinois Wine Country. Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat a variety of oral health conditions for both children and adults.
• Perform routine dental procedures including restorative dentistry, endodontics, crown and bridge, removable prosthodontics, and simple/surgical extractions.
• Refer patients for specialty consultations as needed, following approved protocols.
• Educate patients on their oral health status and recommended treatments.
• Participate in peer review, quality improvement projects, and staff meetings.
• Ensure timely completion of records in compliance with board-approved policies.

Requirements

• DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school
• Illinois state dental license
• Current CPR (BLS) certification
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Spanish language skills are highly desired but not required
• Commitment to providing compassionate care to underserved populations
