About The Position

The Power Systems Branch is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer specializing in spacecraft Electrical Power Systems development, implementation, and in-orbit operations. This role involves leading teams in hardware development, overseeing cutting-edge technology for power generation and storage design, and supporting various space-borne and landed craft projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or Computer Science.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in leading multidisciplinary development teams for spacecraft Electrical Power System development.
  • Experience in project management of the project's life cycle including cost, evaluation, and schedule control.
  • Laboratory research experience, troubleshooting, and resolving manufacturing issues of space flight Power System components.

  • Experience with novel technologies and device driver technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the efforts of engineering teams engaged in the development of Electrical Power Systems design, analysis, and trades.
  • Provide technical direction for the complete system development of spacecraft power bus, solar array, and battery.
  • Evaluate electrical power systems for projects, programs, proposals, mission studies, and research/development.
  • Direct the planning, specification, manufacturing, and procurement of unique technology for energy conservation storage devices and power systems.
  • Serve as a technical expert and lead engineer in planning and implementing specialized power conversion, conditioning, and distribution.
  • Evaluate design requirements, trades, and limitations of spacecraft Electrical Power Systems based on mission parameters.
  • Review, advise, and conduct technical analysis and development studies in support of major Science programs.
  • Oversee contractor activities and act as a technical specialist in Power System development.
  • Participate as an Electrical Power Systems Subject Matter Expert in internal and external teams or reviews.
