About the position

The NAS Implementation Manager will serve as the primary liaison for the District or Service Area to various stakeholders, including Headquarters, Program Offices, airport user groups, state and city governments, and the Department of Defense. This role focuses on the implementation and integration of National Airspace System (NAS) projects and activities, ensuring effective communication and coordination among all parties involved.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and accomplish complex projects and programs with minimal direction.
  • Act as a principal technical specialist or project/program manager for large work activities.
  • Provide liaison and coordination for NAS implementation and integration efforts between technical operations and air traffic operations.
  • Advocate for operations for the Districts to various offices and stakeholders regarding NAS maintenance and infrastructure.
  • Review, analyze, and make recommendations on engineering plans and specifications for NAS modernization and transition projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of risk mitigation plans and develop comments addressing maintainability issues.
  • Apply engineering principles and knowledge to solve complex problems and improve technical processes.
  • Analyze impacts of proposed projects on NAS operations and monitor for conflicts within technical operations.
  • Prepare briefings and presentations for project prioritization within the Tech Ops District.
  • Define, organize, and assign resources to accomplish organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Professional Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent coursework in engineering science or physics.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I (FG/GS-13) in engineering or related fields.
  • Experience working collaboratively with HQ, program offices, airport users, and government agencies on NAS projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project/program management within aviation or transportation sectors.
  • Knowledge of FAA policies and procedures related to NAS operations.
