About the position

The General Engineer position within the Department of Defense is responsible for overseeing the Real Property Maintenance and Military Construction programs for regional DLA Disposition Services locations. This role involves advising on various aspects of facilities engineering, including mechanical, electrical, industrial, architectural, energy, environmental, and safety engineering. The engineer will manage projects related to design, construction, maintenance, and repair, while also preparing necessary documentation and providing technical consultation to command groups.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior facilities engineer responsible for Real Property Maintenance and Military Construction programs.
  • Advise on all aspects of facilities engineering including mechanical, electrical, industrial, architectural, energy, environmental, and safety engineering.
  • Manage project design, layout, construction maintenance, and repair of various engineering systems.
  • Prepare facility engineering project documentation including cost estimates, design alternatives, and environmental assessments.
  • Consult with the Command Group and Resource Board, providing technical advice and assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in professional engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering principles to resolve facility engineering problems.
  • Skill in managerial functions and basic administrative processes.
  • Experience in planning, design, and oversight of maintenance projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
