About the position

This position is located in the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Office of Space Weather Operations (SWO), with one vacancy in Lanham, MD. As a General Engineer, you will oversee the achievement of designs, specifications, and other standards for the production of satellite ground antenna and Radio Frequency (RF) systems hardware and software. You will lead, plan, or conduct engineering studies meant to assess specific programs, projects requirements, ensuring feasibility, economy, and effectiveness of engineering plans. Additionally, you will serve as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) managing full life-cycle support of pre-acquisition and post-acquisition and associated technical oversight tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the achievement of designs, specifications, and other standards for the production of satellite ground antenna and Radio Frequency (RF) systems hardware and software.
  • Lead, plan, or conduct engineering studies meant to assess specific programs, projects requirements, ensuring feasibility, economy, and effectiveness of engineering plans.
  • Serve as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) managing full life-cycle support of pre-acquisition and post-acquisition and associated technical oversight tasks.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • A background investigation will be required.
  • Must submit a Financial Disclosure Form, OGE-450.
  • Education: Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
  • Experience in managing acquisitions of equipment related to space weather ground satellite systems.
