About the position

The General Farm/Irrigation Worker position at Arcadia AG LLC involves a variety of tasks related to the production of crops, particularly potatoes, hay, and grain. This temporary full-time role requires the worker to engage in both general farm work and specific irrigation duties, ensuring efficient crop production and maintenance of farm equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize and harvest crops.
• Make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery.
• Remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds.
• Remove rocks from field and perform general cleanup of farm areas.
• Drive, load/unload trucks and rouge potatoes for disease and variety mix.
• Connect pipes and check alignment for hand line irrigation; adjust for proper water distribution.
• Operate gasoline engines and controls for wheel line irrigation.
• Push switches to activate circle sprinkler systems for pivot irrigation.
• Disassemble, service and store irrigation equipment after the season.
• Cut and sort seed potatoes using specified techniques and machinery.
• Pack produce according to grade, color, and size, ensuring quality control during the process.
• Assist in harvesting potatoes by removing rocks and alerting equipment operators of any issues.

Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry pipe sections weighing approximately 40 pounds on a sustained basis.
• Experience in operating farm machinery and equipment.
• Basic mechanical skills for minor repairs and adjustments.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
