About the position

The General Foreman - Infrastructure at Cianbro is responsible for leading, developing, and coordinating multiple crews in the industrial construction sector. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and cost-efficiency, ensuring that project goals align with the standards set by Cianbro and its customers. The General Foreman will actively participate in planning, monitor productivity, and manage resources effectively to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Accept responsibility for team safety, leading the team to zero injuries.
  • Be proactive in identifying hazards and managing risks while ensuring proper use of PPE and personal responsibility for safety.
  • Understand and work in accordance with the overall project schedule and budget.
  • Work together with project supervision on a daily basis to communicate production goals and quality specifications of work.
  • Discuss issues that have surfaced (around people, means and methods, material or equipment use, etc.) and ideas to help the team achieve project goals.
  • Participate in planning means and methods.
  • Ensure Foremen have accurately recorded and reported crew's work hours and quantities installed.
  • Monitor and manage crew productivity.
  • Ensure ongoing efforts are made to improve productivity.
  • Analyze production results and establish appropriate corrective actions if required.
  • Help the team learn from any mistakes and accurately record costs when rework is required.
  • Forecast equipment, materials, or workforce needs as required.
  • Help ensure all the resources for crew's activities are available when needed.
  • Seek solutions to special requests or problems with their work in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure foremen properly use Activity Planning to effectively plan, organize and communicate specific details of work; sign off on all plans.
  • Understand the project cost code structure related to your work activities.

Requirements

  • 10 plus years of supervisory experience managing multiple crews in a heavy industrial construction environment.
  • Good organizational abilities and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in construction operating practices is preferred.
  • Strong sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and communicate in a timely, effective manner.
