About the position

The Human Resources and Operations Manager at Lewellen Family Law Group is responsible for overseeing the organization's daily operations, human resources, and client account management. This role emphasizes compliance with employment laws, fostering a positive workplace culture, and enhancing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to process improvement, ensuring smooth operations and effective HR management.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and HR policies.
  • Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and descriptions for all positions.
  • Support staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; and conducting exit interviews.
  • Prepare employees for assignments by conducting orientation and training programs, including safety training.
  • Manage a pay plan by conducting pay surveys, job evaluations, and preparing pay budgets.
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing HR federal and state requirements and conducting investigations.
  • Enforce management guidelines by preparing and recommending HR policies and procedures.
  • Retain historical HR records by designing a filing and retrieval system.
  • Cultivate professional knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional societies.
  • Complete HR operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
  • Maintain constant communication with managers, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the company.
  • Oversee time-clock accuracy and efficient processes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols.
  • Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures.
  • Oversee warehouse management and purchase order processes.
  • Lead, motivate, and support a small team, including career development plans for direct reports.
  • Manage data collection for updating metrics to achieve productivity targets and reduce costs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary tools and systems.
  • Work closely with legal and safety to ensure compliance in activities.
  • Oversee materials and inventory management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven success in an operations management role with an emphasis on human resources, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Strong understanding of national laws related to HR, safety, and payroll labor laws in California.
  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of operations and customer service.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ethical mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in operations management, human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of management software programs, including Clio, QuickBooks, and Gusto Payroll.
  • Strong IT skills and data security knowledge.
