About the position

Ames Construction is seeking skilled operators for various heavy equipment roles, including Blade, Loader, and Pipe operations. The position involves working outdoors in diverse weather conditions, ensuring safe and efficient operations while adhering to company standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidates will contribute to the construction of essential infrastructure, supporting the company's mission to build safer communities and sustainable futures.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as Blade, Loader, and Pipe with awareness of surroundings and safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding equipment operations and site conditions.
• Understand and follow site plans, including stakes, lines, and grades for accurate material placement.
• Identify and manage soft and rough areas on the job site to ensure proper grading and drainage.
• Stage equipment and trucks efficiently for loading and unloading materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring materials are stored and piled in a drainable manner.

Requirements

• Knowledgeable in OSHA standards and safety regulations.
• Willingness to learn and accept direction from supervisors.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Experience with tools and equipment, including power and non-power tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in heavy civil construction or similar fields.
• Familiarity with grading and drainage techniques.
• Ability to operate multiple types of heavy machinery.
