About the position

The Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist position at a critical access hospital in Ferry County, Washington, involves performing a variety of laboratory tests to assist in diagnosing diseases and determining treatment options. This role requires a certified laboratory professional to work on the day shift, with a schedule of four 10-hour shifts and on-call weekend rotations. The technician will engage in various testing areas including Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Molecular Diagnostics, while ensuring quality customer service and maintaining laboratory safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing in clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, serology, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Match computer orders with specimen labeling and sort specimens accordingly.
  • Check labeling, log specimens, and arrange reports for delivery.
  • Maintain quality results by verifying equipment function, troubleshooting, calibrating equipment, and monitoring quality control measures.
  • Participate in staff training and educational opportunities.
  • Identify and communicate abnormal patient conditions and report mandated information to public health authorities.
  • Contribute to a safe and secure environment by following established standards and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality regarding laboratory information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science and MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent for MT/MLS positions.
  • Associates degree in science and MLT(ASCP) certification or equivalent for MLT positions.
  • Ability to calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Good dexterity and eye-hand coordination for specimen collection and preparation.
  • Knowledge of lab safety and infection prevention protocols.
