About the position

The General Labor position at Interstate Brick involves supporting the manufacturing operations by performing various tasks related to the production of brick. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and company values while ensuring the cleanliness and efficiency of the work environment.

Responsibilities

• Making and mixing batches of slurry
• Filling and checking sand hoppers
• Putting slurry barrels in place beside the machine
• Installing die setups
• Filling slurry barrels with water
• Operating a forklift
• Cleaning up pug and extruder
• Dumping grog bucket
• Maintaining work area according to company specifications for cleanliness and safety
• Attending safety meetings and abiding by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies
• Complying with current 5S Housekeeping standards and requested protocol
• Performing all other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representative

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Ability to follow simple instructions
• Requires on-the-job training to perform duties
• Must be company certified as a forklift operator
• Ability to use and operate a forklift, extruder, reclaimer, grinder, slug cutter, mixers, die changers, feeders, rivet gun, hand tools, square, tape measure, impact wrench, and chain hoist
• Ability to reason, read, and write effectively
• Regular attendance is required
• Occasionally required to bend at the waist; lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
