About the position
As a General Laborer at the Hershey Company Y&S Lancaster plant, you will be part of a dynamic team in a non-union environment dedicated to producing high-quality licorice products such as Twizzlers, Nibs, and Pull & Peel. This role is essential in maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and production requirements. You will be working primarily on the 3rd shift, with the flexibility to pick up additional hours during other shifts as needed. This part-time position is designed for individuals who can adapt to a fast-paced, high-speed production environment while ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards. Your responsibilities will include operating various processing and packaging equipment, performing quality checks, and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). You will also be involved in the Autonomous Maintenance Programs, which include cleaning, inspecting, and lubricating equipment to ensure optimal performance. The role requires a commitment to safety and quality, as you will be observing all safety procedures and maintaining good housekeeping practices throughout the plant. This position is not guaranteed a set number of hours but cannot exceed 29 hours per week. Candidates must be prepared to take and pass a pre-hire assessment and undergo a post-offer drug screen and background check. A valid ID is required for employment. Responsibilities
- Operating processing and/or packaging equipment.
- Operating a fork truck.
- Following and interpreting information from processes including performing various quality checks (i.e. metal detectors, date codes, and weight systems).
- Following Autonomous Maintenance Programs (cleaning, inspecting, and lubricating equipment).
- Observing all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and good housekeeping practices.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age at time of hire.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- High School diploma or GED Certificate.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Ability to understand and perform basic mathematics.
- Basic computer knowledge with ability to find and enter information.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a manufacturing/food manufacturing environment including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF), Autonomous/Preventative Maintenance, Continuous Improvement, and Warehouse Management Systems such as SAP/LPR.
