As a General Laborer (Roving) in the Ready-Mix division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the plant. Your primary responsibilities will include promoting safety, performing general physical activities, repairing and maintaining equipment, inspecting equipment and structures, and operating vehicles and equipment. You will be expected to take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation, assist with various tasks around the plant, and ensure that all equipment is functioning properly to maximize production and minimize interruptions. This position requires flexibility, as you may need to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. You will also be exposed to various weather conditions and loud noises, which are inherent to the job. The work you do will have a meaningful impact, as the aggregates produced are used to build essential infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals, airports, and housing throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety by prioritizing safety throughout the operation in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
  • Perform General Physical Activities including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.
  • Repair and Maintain Equipment by assisting co-workers in servicing, repairing, and adjusting various pieces of equipment throughout the plant.
  • Inspect Equipment and Structures by performing daily inspections and maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
  • Operate Vehicles and Equipment, including heavy construction equipment or similar types of cleanup loaders to assist with plant operations.
  • Complete Additional Responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises.
  • Some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

  • Experience in the aggregate or construction industry.
