About the position

The General Laborer position at Gage-It Construction involves performing physically demanding tasks related to highway construction, maintenance, and repair. The role requires collaboration with team members and supervisors to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality in all work performed. Regular travel throughout Oregon is expected, and the work environment is primarily outdoors, exposing employees to various weather conditions and hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely and communicate effectively with team members, operators, foremen, and the operations manager to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Follow directions diligently and communicate with superiors regarding any issues or concerns with directives received.
  • Act as a team leader by managing and communicating directives given by superiors and completing all project goals.
  • Communicate thoroughly with superiors prior to starting any project to receive clear direction, objectives, and goals.
  • Perform a variety of labor tasks necessary for completing a project, which vary by project.
  • Spend the majority of the day standing/walking while performing physical labor.
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift and move objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed for the classification of work being performed.
  • Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment after use.
  • Perform other duties as required by foremen or project managers.

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff, state/government agencies, prime contractors, and community members.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel (intrastate travel required).
  • Availability for weekend and night shifts as required.
  • Adhere to set schedules and follow all directions diligently.
  • Must have passed the OSHA 10 online training course and have knowledge of safety procedures, including hand tools and chemicals.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs on a regular basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Non-Commercial Drivers License required; Commercial A Drivers License preferred.
  • Driver License Endorsements preferred: Doubles/Triples, Passenger, Tanker.
