About the position

The General Ledger Manager at RWE Clean Energy, LLC is responsible for supervising a team of 4-8 accountants, ensuring timely and accurate completion of accounting activities including General Ledger management, financial statements preparation, and year-end audit processes. This role involves collaboration with various accounting and finance teams, addressing tight deadlines, and continuously improving accounting and reporting efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
• Oversee month-end close activities, including preparing/reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Supervise the GL Team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Advise staff on handling non-routine reporting transactions and developing accounting policies.
• Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures.
• Support internal and external audit activities as appropriate.
• Assist with special projects related to Financial Reporting, Tax, and Risk.
• Establish best practices for the monthly close process and account reconciliation.
• Work with direct reports to establish goals and monitor progress for professional development.
• Hire, train, and supervise accounting staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA license preferred
• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in the energy industry or related field
• At least 2 years of experience managing direct reports
• Familiarity with IFRS and US GAAP
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer relationships
• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
• Motivated self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities
• Detail-oriented with strong business acumen.
