About the position

As a General Maintenance Engineer at Hotel Vintage, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel by maintaining all equipment, systems, and building components. This includes a wide range of responsibilities that encompass mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and more. Your work will not only involve routine maintenance but also repairs and improvements that enhance the overall guest experience and operational efficiency of the hotel. You will be part of a team that values heartfelt connections and strives to create a welcoming environment for both guests and staff. Your daily tasks will include building, repairing, and painting various parts of the hotel, as well as installing and replacing lighting fixtures and bulbs. You will also be responsible for cleaning carpets and rugs, visually inspecting and testing machinery and equipment, and diagnosing any issues that arise. This hands-on role requires you to dismantle defective machines, install new or repaired parts, and maintain the physical structure of the establishment. Additionally, you will fabricate and repair furniture and fixtures, paint corridors and hotel rooms, and transport heavy boxes and packages as needed. Communication is key in this position, as you will need to collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor on assigned projects and respond to customer requests in a timely and personable manner. Your ability to lead yourself and be flexible with your schedule will be essential, as you may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities

  • Maintain all equipment, systems, and building components including mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, and tile.
  • Build, repair, and paint all parts of the hotel.
  • Install and replace lighting fixtures and bulbs.
  • Clean carpets and rugs.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
  • Fabricate and repair furniture and fixtures.
  • Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
  • Paint corridors, hotel rooms, and lobby areas when necessary.
  • Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in delivering and setting up all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, and chairs.
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor on projects as assigned.
  • Respond to all customer requests in a timely and personable manner.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a hotel engineer is preferred or comparable maintenance experience at an establishment such as an apartment complex or office building.
  • Ability to be yourself, lead yourself, and make it count!
  • Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
