About the position

The Handyman at ABM Industries is responsible for maintaining the physical condition and appearance of properties, including fixed and portable equipment. This role involves performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe environment, and supporting the implementation of safety plans and operational standards under the supervision of the Superintendent. The position is a 2nd shift role, requiring a proactive approach to facility maintenance and tenant service.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and performs minor and routine maintenance/repairs including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
• Maintains and inspects all capital and non-capital equipment within the facility.
• Ensures completion of all resident work orders and keeps the Superintendent informed of repair statuses.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment regularly.
• Reports items requiring major repairs to the Facility Manager and Superintendent.
• Participates in standby emergency schedule for evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.
• Helps in snow removal when necessary.
• Maintains correct records about preventive maintenance and service requests.

Requirements

• Past related experience in maintenance or handyman roles.
• Knowledgeable in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and climbing.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with HVAC systems and general facility management.
• Certification in safety procedures or maintenance practices.
