About the position

The General Maintenance Worker at Cal Poly Pomona Foundation will perform general preventative and repair maintenance tasks related to the upkeep and operation of all buildings and equipment owned by the Foundation. This part-time role involves responding to emergency call-ins, assisting maintenance technicians, and performing various repair tasks across multiple trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance. The position requires a proactive approach to maintenance and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform general preventative and repair maintenance of non-technical tasks related to the upkeep of buildings and equipment.
• Respond to emergency call-ins for all buildings and equipment belonging to the Foundation.
• Assist maintenance technicians in completing assigned technical tasks.
• Conduct repairs in various trades including painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance.
• Complete or initiate work orders or inspections as assigned.
• Maintain logs on work history and report breakdowns.
• Perform inventory control of tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Drive company vehicles to transport tools, equipment, employees, and materials.
• Provide professional and courteous service to all customers.
• Occasionally serve as a work party leader with other maintenance personnel and student assistants.

Requirements

• Minimum three years' experience in maintenance or related field with emphasis on electrical systems and equipment.
• Familiarity with common tools and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and properly operate equipment and supplies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and proficiency in reading technical manuals and blueprints.
• Valid CA driver's license and current insurance.
