About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker - Evening Custodian at Inver Hills Community College is responsible for performing custodial and general maintenance tasks across the campus, ensuring cleanliness and upkeep of buildings and grounds. This role operates under the direction of the Building Services Manager and may also provide support at Dakota County Technical College based on departmental needs.

Requirements

• Knowledge of different types of flooring and appropriate cleaning methods.
• Ability to handle and apply chemical cleaning agents safely.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment for effective use and minor repairs.
• Physical health and endurance to perform work functions for extended periods.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to operate or learn to operate various cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers.
• Knowledge of fire alarm and security systems or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties and general maintenance of the campus, buildings, and grounds.
• Follow a rotation schedule for assigned cleaning areas.
• Use appropriate cleaning methods, materials, and equipment for different types of flooring and surfaces.
• Handle and apply chemical cleaning agents safely and effectively.
