About the position

The General Maintenance Worker in the HVAC Department at PRIDE Industries is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and buildings. This role requires practical skills in various trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work, with a focus on safe work practices. The position is part of a federal AbilityOne contract, emphasizing the employment of individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Painting structures and equipment.
  • Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hanging doors and installing door locks.
  • Replacing broken window panes.
  • Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • May also perform duties and operate equipment related to sign-making.
  • May purchase and pick up required supplies and materials charged to company to complete various projects.
  • Frequent travel between facilities is required.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of work experience in general building maintenance or demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of and ability to properly use specialized equipment in trades such as electrical, plumbing, or general carpentry.
  • Ability to manage material resources and time.
  • Ability to work safely and follow directions and instructions.
  • Customer service skills to respond to inquiries and requests.
  • Communication skills to provide information and follow instructions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities and build effective relationships.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and common sense skills.
  • Ability to travel to various facilities and work independently and as a team.
