About the position

The General Maintenance Worker I / Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the facility's interior common areas. This role involves performing janitorial duties, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and assisting with maintenance activities as needed. The position is essential for preserving the property and meeting the expectations of regulatory agencies, management, residents, and owners.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the facility's interior common areas clean and orderly daily by sweeping and mopping floors, dusting and polishing furniture, cleaning glass windows, and emptying trash containers.
  • Move dumpsters for trash removal and clean trash rooms.
  • Perform overall cleaning of vacant apartments.
  • Set up tables and chairs in the community room for activities.
  • Assist Maintenance Worker II in performing maintenance activities during apartment turnovers.
  • Comply with all applicable training requirements and company policies.
  • Contribute positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team.
  • Participate in Agency Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program and Accreditation/Reaccreditation process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • 1-year experience in a janitorial/housekeeping position.
  • Experience in routine maintenance activities.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
