The General Maintenance Worker II at Catholic Charities Diocese of St. Petersburg is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks. This role involves ensuring the property is safe and well-maintained, supervising vendors, and adhering to safety standards while operating equipment. The position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, including tracking work orders and performing repairs across various trades.

Responsibilities

• Supervise vendors and contractors for maintenance tasks.
• Maintain the interior appearance of the building.
• Track daily work orders and preventative maintenance.
• Repair structures and install fixtures such as cabinets and partitions.
• Perform electrical repairs and maintain refrigeration equipment.
• Paint building interiors and exteriors, and perform concrete work.
• Estimate materials, labor, and time for projects.
• Clean common areas and vacant apartments thoroughly.
• Manage trash removal and cleaning of trash rooms.
• Decorate and landscape the property as guided by the Manager.
• Interact with the Manager regarding policies and maintenance budgets.
• Track work orders and inventories using computer systems.
• Participate in property inspections and maintain compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in a building trade such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work.
• Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Knowledge of safety practices and building maintenance standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Technical training in building trades preferred.
• Experience with HVAC systems.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds occasionally.
