About the position

The General Maintenance Worker position at the Prevedel Federal Complex in Overland, Missouri, is a full-time role that involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning and upkeep of the building and its equipment. This position requires practical skills and knowledge in several trades, including but not limited to painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. The worker will be responsible for a range of essential duties that contribute to the overall maintenance and repair of the facility. Key responsibilities include replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, as well as changing filters and belts. The worker will also be tasked with patching minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets, and painting various structures and equipment. Additionally, the role involves repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken windowpanes. General maintenance on equipment and machinery is also a critical part of the job. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including on-call rotations, occasional overtime, and some weekend work. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate knowledge of building repair and maintenance, general mechanical, electrical, and carpentry skills, as well as safety procedures. The ability to operate hand and power tools effectively and to prioritize and organize work is essential. Reasoning ability is also important, as the worker must be able to read and write in English and interpret various information to ensure that procedures are followed correctly.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
