The General Maintenance Worker position at Pegasus Support Services, LLC is a vital role that involves performing general maintenance tasks across various locations in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) area, including McAllen, Brownsville, Harlingen, and Corpus Christi, Texas. This position requires practical skills and knowledge in several trades, including but not limited to painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. The worker will be responsible for maintaining buildings and equipment, which includes traveling to remote work sites and completing tasks independently. The role may also involve responding to after-hours emergency calls to address urgent issues and prevent damage to equipment. The essential duties of the General Maintenance Worker include replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks such as replacing filters and belts. The worker will also be responsible for patching minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets, and painting structures and equipment. Additional responsibilities include repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors, installing door locks, and assisting with lockouts, battery changes, and rekeying cards. The worker will also be tasked with replacing broken windowpanes and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery. Flexibility in scheduling is required, including on-call rotations, occasional overtime, and some weekend work. To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED, along with at least three years of general mechanical, electrical, carpentry, or maintenance experience within the past four years. Completion of a technical or vocational school in general maintenance skills or comparable training is preferred. A valid Texas Driver's License and the ability to maintain DHS Facility access are also required. Experience in preventative maintenance and responding to work orders is essential. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of building repair and maintenance, safety procedures, and the operation of hand and power tools, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
