The Building People, LLC, is currently seeking a full-time Engineering Tech II. This position is crucial for maintaining the overall condition of buildings across various locations, including the Naval Base Norfolk (NOB), Little Creek, and St. Juliens Creek. The Engineering Tech II will serve as the Quality Assurance inspector for all completed work and general conditions of the buildings. Responsibilities include assisting the current team with minor maintenance tasks, moving furniture, and ensuring that service tickets submitted by customers are completed and signed off. The role requires climbing ladders to verify completed work and conducting daily inspections to ensure that all physical structures and systems are fully operational. The Engineering Tech II will also monitor facility programs and services to ensure compliance with building codes related to life safety, fire prevention, and security. This position involves data gathering for the Facility Condition Assessment Program and managing updates to the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS). The successful candidate will communicate findings from field surveys and coordinate updates to floorplans, acting as a delegate for the Facility Lead when necessary. The role may also involve escorting maintenance contractors and subcontractors to specific locations on base, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Verify general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings.
  • Conduct daily inspection activities to ensure physical structures are operational.
  • Monitor facility programs and services for compliance with building codes.
  • Assist in Facility Condition Assessment Program data gathering.
  • Notify facility leads and building occupants of utility outages.
  • Perform facility maintenance and service request initiation and tracking.
  • Assist building occupants with clear-out efforts prior to renovations.
  • Verify and maintain building, space, and seating signage.
  • Communicate findings from field surveys and coordinate updates to floorplans.
  • Escort maintenance contractors and subcontractors to locations on base.

Requirements

  • Clear background investigation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Preferred 3 years of general maintenance experience.
