About the position

The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and buildings. This role requires practical skills in various trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. The worker will be involved in a variety of tasks including patching walls, repairing plumbing fixtures, painting, and maintaining equipment, while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repairing or replacing faucets and drain assemblies, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Painting structures and equipment.
  • Pressure washing surfaces.
  • Cleaning gutters.
  • Replacing damaged paneling and floor/ceiling tiles.
  • Hanging doors and installing door locks.
  • Replacing broken windowpanes.
  • Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Being on a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
  • Adhering to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Consistently producing quality products and service.
  • Completing all training within required timelines.
  • Performing all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four (4) years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in a variety of building and/or utility trades.
  • Ability to work in a team or alone and change jobs on short notice.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions, able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform duties under adverse weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service.
  • Formal vocational/technical training in building trades.
