About the position

The Maintenance Worker at Sodexo Operations Inc. is responsible for the upkeep and repair of machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings. This role involves a variety of tasks including painting, flooring repairs, and working on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. In emergency situations, the Maintenance Worker may be called upon to assist with urgent tasks. The responsibilities of this position are diverse and may vary based on the specific needs of the business and clients. Key responsibilities include performing maintenance services or repairs in various skill areas such as minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, and electrical repairs or installations. The worker will also handle tasks like changing light bulbs, installing paper dispensers, changing filters, and performing minor decorative maintenance. Safety is a priority, and the worker is expected to identify and correct unsafe working conditions, attend safety training, and comply with OSHA and local safety requirements. Additional duties may include snow removal, assisting with special events, driving vehicles, and supporting skilled trade workers to learn new skills. The Maintenance Worker may also be involved in inventory management of equipment and parts, as well as inspecting completed repairs. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to safety and quality in all tasks performed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance service or repairs in one or more skill areas, including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical repairs.
  • Change light bulbs, install paper dispenser units, change filters, and perform minor decorative maintenance.
  • Clean and lubricate parts of machines and equipment.
  • Identify and correct unsafe working conditions with management oversight.
  • Attend training programs as designated by the company.
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Report all accidents and injuries promptly.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and hazard assessments.
  • Apply all applicable OSHA and local safety requirements to assigned work.
  • Perform snow removal and other groundskeeping activities as needed.
  • Assist skilled trade workers in performing specific duties to learn new skills.
  • Examine mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Order replacement parts and equipment with management approval.
  • Inspect completed repairs and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to present oneself in a highly professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and communicate effectively with co-workers and other departments.
  • Basic phone and computer skills (email, texting, etc.).
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and local safety requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish to assist customers.
  • Experience in a similar maintenance role.
