About the position

The General Manager, 3PL position in Suffolk, VA, is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a large-scale warehouse operation. The role requires overseeing daily operations, ensuring profitability, and leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment. The General Manager will be instrumental in preparing for peak seasons, managing complex logistics, and maintaining strong customer relationships while driving continuous improvement in operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of a 600,000 sq. ft. warehouse with over 30 active customers.
• Take full P&L responsibility, driving profitability and controlling costs.
• Lead by example on the warehouse floor, ensuring smooth processes from receiving to fulfillment.
• Prepare for and manage peak season operations, coordinating staff and resources to meet customer demands.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team, mentoring and holding them accountable for productivity targets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction.
• Identify and implement best practices for continuous improvement in operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5-7 years of senior management experience in a 3PL, distribution, or eCommerce environment.
• Strong P&L management experience and understanding of financial metrics critical to warehouse operations.
• Demonstrated success in managing large teams and complex logistics operations during peak seasons.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to engage in daily operations.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority customers and projects with conflicting deadlines.
• Strong business acumen with a strategic mindset for growth and profitability.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
