About the position

The position involves directing and managing the daily operations of The Detroit Lakes Tribune, The Wadena Pioneer Journal, and The Perham Focus. The primary goal is to achieve revenue targets while maintaining expense budgets. The role requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and community engagement to ensure the success and sustainability of the local media outlets.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to team members to meet company goals and objectives.
• Coach and manage the local advertising sales team to develop advertising strategies and attain revenue targets.
• Set the tone for the location, ensuring employees are challenged, supported, and held accountable.
• Collaborate with the Vice President of Advertising and Vice President of Newspapers on strategy and budget preparation.
• Communicate local market intelligence to company-wide leadership.
• Assist with employee recruitment, hiring, and training programs.
• Ensure the local business is profitable and sustainable by identifying expense improvement measures.
• Engage with civic groups and local business leaders to represent the brand and enhance advertising revenue.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Six to ten years of related experience and/or training.
• Proven history of successful leadership and effective communication.
• Ability to identify talent and build trust within teams.
• Capability to balance strategic and tactical priorities and drive change.
• Demonstrated ability to establish transparent relationships with high integrity.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
