About the position

The General Manager for Madison BCycle will lead the bike share system in Madison, WI, overseeing operations, business development, and community engagement. This role requires strategic leadership and operational expertise to drive growth and ensure the program's success while supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives. The General Manager will work closely with various stakeholders to develop and execute strategies aimed at increasing ridership and revenue, while maintaining operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of goals and strategy for Madison BCycle as part of overall Bike Transit operations.
  • Collaborate with local staff and stakeholders to develop local system goals and strategies.
  • Participate in the implementation of equitable bike share initiatives.
  • Review pricing and customer service policies, recommending modifications as necessary.
  • Develop tools and metrics to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce issues.
  • Manage Madison BCycle departments, ensuring operational integrity and productivity.
  • Build a positive team culture aligned with Bike Transit's mission and values.
  • Support human resource planning and training for positive employee lifecycle.
  • Ensure financial performance and grow the business through partnerships.
  • Analyze financial performance and develop improvement plans with stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage the budget in collaboration with the finance department.
  • Manage sponsorship and advertising relationships, ensuring contract compliance.
  • Perform weekly reporting and analysis to identify growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • College degree in business administration, transportation, or related field required.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated success in leading large teams and developing key employees.
  • Prior experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles.
  • Good negotiation skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing a budget with P&L responsibility.
  • Strong computer aptitude, particularly in Microsoft 365 and project management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
