About the position

The General Manager for the Building Materials Industry is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of branch operations, driving sales growth, operational efficiency, and profitability. This position requires a strategic thinker who can motivate teams and optimize processes while ensuring a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee branch sales, operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control to meet or exceed goals.
• Recruit, hire, train, and manage staff, including conducting performance reviews and addressing personnel issues.
• Take full accountability for budgeting, financial reporting, and expense control.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing waste and cost.
• Develop and implement cost-effective measures for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Solicit and respond to customer feedback, addressing deficiencies to ensure continuous improvement and satisfaction.
• Ensure adherence to company programs, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Forecast product demand, labor efficiency, and operational needs to align with branch objectives.
• Attend relevant training sessions and take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the building materials industry, with proven supervisory or management experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and manage teams effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to calculate discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends.
• Proven ability to interpret written and oral instructions and adapt to dynamic situations.
